Title: Noblet in the Sun
Pairing: idk
Rating: PG
Challenge: #13, ‘‘post-Christmas’’
Notes: Hi mom
Disclaimer: Sure why not

What happens to a dream deferred? Does it burn to the ground like a Christmas tree in the middle of the night? Does it hang listlessly like the singed and shredded ornaments above the fireplace? Does it run off like an ex-convict with your shameful, dirty secret? Does it glare from a not-so-invisible hiding spot in the hall, eyes full of rage and indignation, waiting for you to track it down and make with the angry sex in a janitor’s closet?

Sitting broken and tense in his living room, smashed violin in hands, Chuck didn’t care. Dreams are for fools.

HERE'S YOUR COMMENT
Somehow I originally read that one line as "a not-so-invisible hiding spot in the wall," so I was picturing a letter-slot-sized hole in the wall of the Noblet living room from which Geoffrey could regularly peer out and be all "LOL SEX PLZ." I guess that doesn't have anything to do with your writing, though.

There's really nothing I can say that's constructive rather than simply an observation because IT'S 100 WORDS. Try as I might, I just ended up rambling. So I'll just say that though it clearly connects with "To Be Young, Gifted, And Blank," it's difficult to place this drabble at a specific point in the plot and it jumps around a bit (the angry sex obvs. = Flatpoint while the rest = Noblet's home, I assume). But I assumed that was intentional because it all seems to be IN NOBLET'S BRAINS. So, yeah, that was an observation rather than a criticism, wasn't it.

I can overanalyze it if you'd like. Chuck THINKS he doesn't care and yet he obviously does by the nature of posing those questions in the first place. REPRESSSSEDDD FEELLLINNNNGGGGGGSS HOMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

WAY TO GO. I love that a post-Christmas fic was posted in May, in a community that nobody (sadly) uses anymore. Brava!
